What is World of Sighbury? It’s part review site, part journal and many parts the ramblings of someone who really should be able to find something more productive to do with their time . It’s about places I’ve been; things I’ve seen; songs I’ve heard and things I’ve learnt. It’s everything that makes getting out of bed in the morning vaguely appealing…music, travel, football, film, TV, books, beer, pubs, food, restaurants, art, museums, history, sport, idling, my kids and a few things that make you want to stay asleep but occasionally demand attention.
This isn’t a review site in the Amazon/Tripadvisor sense – you won’t find mini-dissertations on the merits of one back scratcher over another or a diatribe on how the Budapest Holiday Inn had the temerity to run out of prune juice at 10.01am – it’s a review of the people, places, sights and sounds that have touched or affected my world to such an acute degree that I feel strangely compelled to write about them. Be warned, I may go off on a tangent, but yours is the right to click somewhere else…or leave abuse.
World of Sighbury is for anyone who has felt unquantifiable joy at waking up in a foreign city, a surge of energy or tears when listening to a particular song or felt a literal punch in the guts after reading a breathtaking piece of writing. It’s also a good opportunity for me to write a vast amount of nonsense in the vain belief some other human being may be even remotely interested.
Now the formalities are out of the way, please step into my world…
